Doctor's Notes:

In all there have been 136 post-mortem examinations of cases in which a fracture of the skull has been proved to be present, and I am greatly indebted to the successive pathologists of the Infirmary for the assistance
they have given me in trying to follow the lines of the fractures in the various cases. Two points, however, require to be mentioned in connection with our post-mortem examinations. In the first place, it has scarcely ever been possible to have a fractured skull macerated; this is unfortunate, for I believe that some fissures can only be discovered, and certainly can only be accurately followed, after this has been done. In the second place, examination of the lateral walls of the orbit has been unsatisfactory for obvious reasons.
